Hotel Reviews
“Heaven on Earth”
I stayed at the Sokha Angkor Resort for 3 days as part of a group travelling through Vietnam and Cambodia. From the moment I walked through the doors, I know this was a very special place. The lobby is gorgeous and there is a wonderful aroma of mint everywhere!!! The staff is uniformly gorgeous, very sweet and helpful and always smiling. The pool area is breathtaking and very relaxing. I had a beautiful corner room on the 4th floor and I always looked forward to "coming home" after long hot days visiting Angkor Wat. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the room was very inviting as well. The hotel is conveniently located right near the main street of the town and tuk tuks are always available for the
Night Market and Pub Street. I recommend the Indochine restaurant nearby as well as the Pedro boutique for great handbag shopping.
This is a very special hotel and definitely one of the best I have ever stayed in--kudos to the staff and management for making this a "best choice" in the area.
Room Tip: I had a corner room on the fourth floor-just perfect.
“Not a pool view”
It is a very nice hotel in central location, very close to downtown and Angkor Wat temples. We have booked an "upgrade", the "pool view" but it was disappointing because we were in a far corner, behind the trees, so we could hardly see the pool. I would still not take the "city view" room because it would be very noisy from street traffic. The room was clean and spacious. The bath tub looked suspicious but we had a separate big shower.
The additional bed we had in the room, for our son, was terrible: rusty frame, torn and filthy upholstery, all neatly covered with a huge sparking clean white towel. As soon as we discovered that and asked, the bed was replaced with a ton of excuses, apologies
and delivery of huge tropical fruit basket.
The pool was very nice and very refreshing.
The buffet breakfast had good variety of dishes. The ones that we ate all were fresh and tasty. The French pastry was exceptional.
We tried hotel restaurant one evening. The meals were small, disappointing in taste and overpriced. They try to push "mineral water" instead of local Cambodian. We got a 2 liter Avion, which was presented like a bottle of wine. Indeed, if the bottle of the water was wine, that would be from the "good year". The water was stale and we returned it (just like you would return bad wine). No problem!
As a general rule: if the restaurant is empty during dinner rush hour - don't get in.
The
Room Tip: Get breakfast. Eat dinner outside. Get "pool view" if you want quiet room.
Traditional Khmer Hotel 5 stars
We have a wonderful stay. The swimming pool is near and easy access from rooms. It has beautiful garden for relaxing. We also our time in the Spa. The hotel is located within the walking distant to Night markets, shopping areas, F&B outlets of many types and PUB street
“Connected”
We spent 4 nights here with our 2 daughters.
The hotel has all the basic stuff that any star rated hotel provides.
If you want to be near the Angkhor temple complex and the nightlife in Siem Reap it is a very good option.
The night market, riverside and the museum are a short walk away. Loads of restaurants, supermarketsand in the vicinity and tuk tuks are available at almost any hour. The airport is about 20 mins by car.
The hotel amenities are good, decent spa and gym. Lovely pool.
2 restaurants , breakfast is a good spread.
Our room was very spacious with an extra bed and balcony.
Nothing extraordinary but a good stay.
Good as a base to visit Angkor Wat and other
temples.
Room Tip: Take a higher floor with pool view.
“Comfortable, but some inconsistencies in Service”
If first impressions count, they'd get a 5 out of 5, but it started sliding from there. We booked a pool view room, but had arrived a bit too early to check in (2pm officially), and due to some miscommunication, they gave us a room that was available (at 9am) - one that had a city view(USD140/night), BUT charged us the pool view room rate (USD155/night). What irks is that they said the receptionist had told us it was a temporary room, and that we were supposed to go back to the reception to change.. USD15 extra night isn't much of a big issue, but that's not the point. :p
More ⇓In terms of the rest - location is excellent.. so close to the town, but not noisy (even though we were facing the main
