I chose the Sokha Angkor resort as it seemed to be an ideal location for visiting Ankor Wat as well as the market area. In terms of location it is excellent. The staff is helpful and polite. The swimming pool is very good. There is a new nightclub that has just opened and may pick up soon. The acrobat show is walking distance from the hotel. Even the pub street and old town can be reached on foot if one does not mind walking for 10-12 minutes. However the rooms need some 'taking care of.' My room had a lizard on the floor, and the AC was not effective, so could not sleep properly at night. Food is good. Better maintenance will make it an excellent place overall as

The check in process took less then 5 minutes and at 10am our room was ready. The king bed could fit four people and considering my partner is over 6 feet we welcomed the king bed with open arms straight for a power nap. The buffet breakfast is the most amazing variety of food you could ever ask for. Anything from omelets, bacon, fresh fruit, laksa, pancakes, waffles, toast, yogurt and fresh juice. I visited Sokha Angkor in late July, travelling with my parents and all the first time to Siem Reap. The 2-bed room was clean and spacious even with an extra bed in it. Good wifi. Great breakfast, plentiful of options. Great location, just a couples of minutes of walk one can get to the night market, yet its location is quiet and undisturbed.

What really impressed me were their helpful staff. My parents could only speak Chinese, and the hotel had a staff who could speak fluent Chinese, and she provided many suggestions to help us plan our tour in Siem Reap.
