Hotel Reviews
Great hotel, lovely colonial feel
Stayed for 4 nights in April 17, hotel is is a great location with tuck tuk driver easily available to take you anywhere for a couple of $. The hotel reception is very smart with marble floors and a very colonial feel. The reception and staff were very helpful, although I have to mention a bizarre incident at check in, whereby the very friendly reception trying to check us in, whilst a very annoying gentlemen from the entrance (hotel employee - bought case to room) was trying to force a sale for a show!!. This needs to stop immediately, I very nearly told him to go away in very sturn terms, he was very persistent, then tried again when bought cases to the room. This tested my patience!. The hotel has a lovely pool area, which
is great on very hot days. Drink prices are roughly 5 times greater than outside areas. But this is a true 5 star hotel.
Must visit pub street. I would strong recommend this hotel. Tip - get the tuk tuk drivers to take you to the temples for about $20 for the trip, but be aware the Angkor Wat requires tickets at circa $35 each person. Cambodia is brilliant.
Great for town and temples
The Sokha Angkhor is an excellently located resort with great access to Siem Reap and the Temples. The staff are really helpful. The tuk- tuk's into town and around the area are really cheap. The prices in the hotel were not even expensive by 5 star accommodation standards. This was a great resort and location for us to finish our honeymoon and i can highly recommend it!
Nice stay and relaxation
The hotel has a pleasant experience with many excellent experiences but a couple of shortfalls. The swimming pool was larger than expected, and the water so warm that it was easy to get in and actually swim. It also had shade in the late afternoon to minimize the impact of the heat and sun. The food at the breakfast buffet we good and provided a variety from a full English fry up to Asian congee. We ordered a lunch but the service was not at all timely. Once it was finally served the quality of the food was good. We didn't try the specialty restaurants. We had aromatherapy massages. They were excellent. The prices were lower if done before 3 PM, and quite a bargain. The bartenders didn't make the best mixed drinks and I would
stick to the draft beer next time. We booked a car and guide to Angkor Thom and another ruin. The guide was OK. For Angkor Wat we just had a tuk tuk driver to the site and entered via the west gate to avoid the crowds. Since it was New Years, the place was pretty packed near the main gate, We thought the self guided tour was easy enough since Angkor Wat is fairly compact. We strongly recommend going to the National Museum before doing any of the ruins. It was excellent and gives a lot of information on the history and statues so it is an excellent primer and allows one to do a self guided tour. We learned more at the museum than we did from our guide. We thought the concierge should have given us more options on activities in the Siem Reap area. They weren't too knowledgeable. The location was great. Easy walking/tuk tuk distance to the markets, the national museum and a lot of restaurants. Overall the hotel was a great value and experience.
A Scenic Oasis
Located about 7km from Angkor Wat and walking distance from Pub Street, this hotel was a beautiful Oasis at the end of a hot day. Staff were very polite and friendly. The food at the breakfast buffet was amazing and the special treatment we received for our wedding anniversary was delightful. We had a beautiful view from our room and the pool was refreshing. The pool waterfall was relaxing to listen to, but turned off at night to avoid disturbance. We hired bikes and rode around Siem Reap and the hotel was helpful with secure parking. We will certainly be back!
