This is my first time staying in the Sokha Siem Reap Resort for a four-day conference. Originally, I had no expectation on the hotel. Surprisingly, I have experienced something amazing in these four days. First, the staffs are very friendly and nice. They greeted with "good morning", "good afternoon" and "good evening" every time I walked pass them. Whenever I needed help, even I had yet not voiced out, someone would come to me and asked "what can I help you sir?" with smile. This is what I have not encountered for many years. Second, the waitresses working in the pool-side bar are amazing. One afternoon, I was going alone for a cup of coffee and working on my research stuff. I walked towards their big circular bar. Before I
placed an order, a waitress came to me and put an ashtray in front of me. While I was there for a few times and they were aware that I am a strong smoker, I did not expect her quick and warm reaction. Very impressive. She is Chamrern, a lady with very good memory. Besides, Chamrern is a considerate person. In that afternoon, I ordered a cup of coffee and a fried noodle. Then I sat at somewhere close to the cashier and finished the noodle. Afterward, I started to smoke. Suddenly, Chamrern came to me and asked me if I would like to change to sit at a table. For sure, I had no problem on that. I changed. Oh! I had realized that there were two ladies standing beside the cashier counter. One of them is a pregnant woman. I had a chance to ask Chamrern if it is the reason why she wanted to change to the table. She did not answer. She just smiled. The third surprise happened in the last night I stayed at the resort. It was over 10:00pm and I walked to the pool-side bar for a beer. As the bar would close at 11:00pm, some staffs were busy in account clearance and cleaning. I told them not to worry. Just gave me the bill once you were about to close. "No problem! It is okay." I remember this is what the bartender replied. So, I started to drink and had chat with the waitresses, two young ladies Channy and Tola. They asked me this and that. "When will you leave?", one of them asked me. "Tonight will be my last night in Siem Reap. I will fly back to Taiwan tomorrow evening", I replied. After a while, they brought me a small cake with a lighting candle. One the side of the plate, they put on some "chocolate words". "Happy your last night. I'm really happy with you. Mr. John". What can I say. This is the first time in my life having such memorable cake. While I have been staying there for four days, I do not feel myself as a stranger guest but a lot more like their friend. Thank you Chamrern, Channy, Tola, the barttender at the pool-side bar, a guy who picked me up from the airport, the receptionists at the front desk, the waiters and waitresses at other bars and the gentlemen in the restaurant. LOVE YOU .... ALL
